Terms of Use

Last updated: October 14, 2026

The short version

Use the site and the Community as the thoughtful professional you are. The EXJ Career Diagnostic is a tool for reflection, not a guarantee of any job. What you post is yours; the site and its content are ours. New York law applies. The detail follows.

Who these terms are between

These terms are an agreement between you and Ex Judicata, a New York corporation, covering exjudicata.com, the EXJ Community, the EXJ Career Diagnostic, and the courses, webinars and coaching we offer or arrange. By using any of them you accept these terms and our Privacy Policy.

The EXJ Career Diagnostic

What you buy. One diagnostic for one person: a single-use link sent to the email address you give at checkout, your personal report, and the follow-up we describe on the diagnostic page. The price shown at checkout is the full price. Links are personal and may not be shared or resold.

What it is. The diagnostic measures how you prefer to work and compares that profile with careers where lawyers have succeeded. It is a structured way to think about your next step. It is not a psychological assessment, not career or legal advice, and not a promise that any employer will hire you. Decisions you make from it are yours.

Your result. The result belongs to you. We may use results only in aggregate, without identifying anyone, to improve the diagnostic and describe trends across the lawyers who take it. We never share an individual result with an employer, a coach or anyone else without your say-so.

Refunds. If your link does not work or you have not started the diagnostic within 30 days of purchase, write to us and we will fix the link or refund you in full. Once a diagnostic has been completed and a result delivered, the purchase is final.

The EXJ Community

Membership is free for lawyers who no longer practice, and otherwise as described on the Community page. You keep ownership of what you post, and you give us permission to display it within the Community. Be the colleague you would want to meet: no harassment, no spam, no solicitation of members outside the places we provide for it, no sharing of another member’s private information, and nothing unlawful. We may remove content or close an account that breaks these rules. The Community runs on a platform provided by Connective, whose own terms also apply while you are using the EXJ Community.

Courses, webinars and coaching

Courses and webinars are for your personal professional development; please do not copy, record or redistribute them. Coaches in Career Corner are independent professionals, not employees of Ex Judicata. We introduce you; the engagement, its fees and its results are between you and the coach.

Your account

Keep your sign-in details to yourself and tell us if you think someone else is using them. You are responsible for what happens under your account. We may suspend an account that is used to break these terms.

Our content

The site, the diagnostic, the reports, the courses, the interviews and everything else we publish belong to Ex Judicata or our licensors. You may read, watch and use them for your own career; you may not copy, scrape, resell or build a competing product from them. The Ex Judicata name and logo are our trademarks.

Disclaimers and limits

We provide the site and services “as is”. We work hard to keep them accurate and available, but we cannot promise they will always be, and we are not responsible for the content of sites we link to or for the advice of independent coaches. To the fullest extent the law allows, Ex Judicata is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability to you for anything arising from these services is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.

Disputes

New York law governs these terms. If something goes wrong, write to us first at [email protected]; most things can be put right in a conversation. Any dispute that cannot be resolved that way will be heard in the state or federal courts in New York County, New York.

Changes

We may update these terms as the services evolve. We will change the date at the top and, for anything significant, tell you on the site or by email before it takes effect. Continuing to use the services after that means you accept the new terms.
