Emily Teuben is Chief of Staff to the General Counsel and Senior Director of Legal Operations at PayPal, Inc., a Fortune 500 digital payments platform. Ms. Teuben plays a pivotal role in leading department wide transformation initiatives using process improvement and technology to automate process, enhance efficiency, and reduce costs. She has elevated how legal services are delivered by developing a global legal technology strategy, implementing a contract extraction technology and transforming the regulatory change monitoring program from a highly manual process dominated by spreadsheets to an automated and proactive system with strong process governance.

Prior to PayPal, Ms. Teuben served as Senior Legal Operations Manager at NetApp, Inc., a Fortune 500 data management and storage provider. During her 9-year tenure, she led programs to create, redesign, streamline and simplify operational processes. She managed complex projects focused on globalizing and unifying the department and the enterprise.

Ms. Teuben was instrumental in developing and implementing 21 legal and business technologies, many extending to the entire company, including cutting-edge contract management, electronic signature, workflow automation, and eBilling software. Her leadership has extended past technology and into departmental strategy, organizational design, metrics, budgeting, and outside counsel management.

Ms. Teuben’s work has led to national recognition for industry leadership, and she has won countless awards for NetApp Inc. Legal’s innovation in the areas of strategic vision, partner and financial management and operational efficiencies. She is a frequent speaker at global events on the growing role of Legal Operations and the impact of technology on the legal industry.

Ms. Teuben graduated cum laude from Santa Clara Law and is licensed to practice law in the State of California. She also graduated cum laude from California Polytechnic State University San Luis Obispo with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology.
