Value Propositions
When a lawyer wishes to explore opportunities outside their current law firm, I facilitate a personal process by which he/she/they can look inward and better understand what is driving him/her/them. Understanding both the passion and purpose, alongside any fear, anxiety and self-protectionism that drive your decisions, is critical when making major life decisions. I provide guidance and support during this transition process, by helping you explore and understand what drives your behavior, as well as what provides you with a sense of satisfaction and success. I can also help to identify potential career paths that align with your skills and interests. Together we develop and implement effective networking strategies and internal and external relationship building techniques. These techniques and tools will empower you to leverage those connections and open new opportunities outside the law firm. Once you land in your new role, I can also help on-board you in this position, as research shows the first 90 days in any role or organization are critical and can truly make or break your success.
We will work together to identify and develop the essential skills necessary for career transition and advancement. This may include improving your leadership abilities, peer and client management, and negotiation techniques. Together we will identify strengths, weaknesses, and areas of interest, allowing the development of a clear career path going forward. By honing these skills, you will become more effective and valuable to companies actively seeking your valuable and powerful skill set.
Process
Transitioning from a career as a lawyer to a new field requires careful planning and consideration. Together we will explore and successfully navigate a career transition towards your next chapter.
· Self-reflection and assessment: We will begin by evaluating your current career and identifying the reasons why you want to make a change. This includes assessing your skills, strengths, and weaknesses, as well as your personal and professional goals. Consider the values, interests, and passions that you want to align with your new career. We will also explore what type of “self-protectionism” may be holding you back or prevent future success. Strategies that we have perfected over our careers can become self-limiting and cause us to operate from a place of fear and anxiety. I will work with you to understand and transform this fear/anxiety to passion and purpose which always gets results.
· Research alternative career options: Next, we will explore different industries and professions that interest you. Learn about the skills and qualifications required in those fields and assess how your existing skills and experience as a lawyer may be transferable.
· Skill gap analysis: We will need to identify the skills and knowledge you may need to acquire or develop to succeed in your new career. We will compare your existing skill set with the requirements of your desired field, and determine which skills are transferable and which ones you may need to acquire through additional education, training, or experience.
Remember, a career transition takes time and effort. Be patient with yourself and remain focused on your long-term goals. Stay proactive and persistent. With dedication and perseverance, you can successfully navigate a career transition to a new and fulfilling opportunity!
